Lakefront Cottage
This cottage was our Summer of 2013 project! The outside didn't get changed much but OH BOY wait until you see the transformation of the interior!! So fresh and wonderful!!
From Quirky to Post and Beam!
Come and join us on our journey to transform this quirky '70's camp into a charming post and beam getaway cottage. The homeowners are also looking for a fitting name for this treasure, so if a good one comes to you please share it with us via our contact page. So as you can see from this first photo, it is not a big camp. We hope you enjoy the journey on this project as much as we are. Since this is a winter project, the photographic journey will be outside and inside, and halted some days due to weather! We will apologize now the the photo quality, but some of the photos are with cellphones, and all are taken in a few minutes "grabbed" here and there as we work! This is a remodel, so you will see some of the features of the original camp are staying. Okay let's get on to the photos! I will remind you that each photo in the gallery goes to full screen when you click on it and has a "blurb" with most.
Polishing the Diamond!
Check out the view this client will have from her BARN window! This is such an exciting project for us. We are working closely with the owner and developing the barn as the old lumber speaks to us. The final look will be of a traditional Monitor style barn. Please notice the recycled beams the owner had collected over the years with this project in mind. The owner has put countless hours of "sweat equity" into this project over a number of years, and many more since we began this project! Not only does she come in the evening after we have gone home to take care of the cleanup, BUT she has sorted, pressure washed, sorted again, and applied a coat of polyurethane all the beams we have used thus far! Truly a labor of love!!
A two bedroom apartment over a two bay garage.
What fun we had working with the homeowners on this project! This is an awesome little building! The two bay garage boasts a high ceiling allowing the owner to use his car lift! The need for this created the need for a raised area upstairs as well, so the master bedroom is made even more special by being raised from the main floor by five steps. The custom hide-a-way bunk beds built from oak and cherry were a blast to design as well as build, and are beautiful to look at. The upstairs outdoor deck that affords a carport/open storage below and a large observation area for near by wildlife are just two of the great outdoor features!
Custom projects:
This is a project that was hard to take a photo of!! We put an addition on the front of the house which required extending the roof line out six feet on one end of the porch, but not on the other, and the home owner really didn't want to block the light that this round window allowed into the home, or to block the stained glass insert the homeowner made especially for that window . So Ember's Garden designed and built a Plexi-glass roof for that area. As I said it was difficult to photograph!!
Custom outdoor combo fireplace and grill
This is one of my personal favorite projects. The front door opens and it is a fireplace, or close the doors and it's a wood fired grill.
